Because they care more about getting a good picture of their food than it actually tasting good.
We've all got to have blogger fails at some point or another.
I was incredibly hungry when I woke up today and my mom had just brought home some chia seeds, so I came to a very logical idea: make some chia seed pancakes for breakfast-lunch. (real brunch is for days when you didn't just roll out of bed).
I found a fairly good, easy recipe for some vegan chia seed pancakes online, but decided to substitute regular milk for the almond milk since my family (unsurprisingly) does't happen to have a bunch of unusual vegan stuff sitting around. I mixed up the batter, and made a couple of small pancakes to try. I really enjoyed them, which was great, since the recipe didn't even include sugar. So, I whipped up a plate of four for my photos and for my meal, complete with banana and syrup.
I hadn't put much syrup on the pancakes, so I decided I could do one of those cute pictures with the syrup pouring onto them. I subsequently poured on a lot of maple syrup.
Then I went upstairs to eat my meal. But then I took a bite and remembered - I don't even like real maple syrup. (Sorry health/organic freaks - the fake stuff is just too good).
The pancakes were dense, plus with the bananas and syrup, after about five big bites I was absolutely sick. No joke, I had completely lost my appetite, and I needed some mint tea to calm my stomach down. I really don't know why exactly, but it wasn't fun. Time to find a new recipe.
But hey, at least I got some nice photos out of it. Nobody has to know it didn't taste good.
